Birthday Kayaking!

It's JennBo's birthday! Instead of smuggling the nice camera on the boat, we brought along the old digital camera. It might be old and slow, but it takes pretty good shots. Enjoy!

Kayaking!

JB and I went kayaking this morning... we only had 45 minutes on the water but it was well worth it! She smuggled the digital camera onto her boat... Enjoy!

contracts have been signed!

Contracts have been signed and checks sent. We will be getting married on Saturday June 20, 2009 at the Essex Conference Center and Retreat, photography by Kelly Griffith. Everything else TBD.

The wedding task over this long weekend is to work on the guest list, decide on save-the-date cards, and try to start thinking about accommodations for folks. We are hoping to take another gander at Essex Center so we can take some pictures before our trip to Charleston later this month. That trip north will likely include a quick visit to some B&Bs to explore our options.

Not much else going on - work has been really busy for the both of us and I'm writing a paper about depression and disease management. It's actually rather interesting. I had no idea that depression was such a prevalent chronic condition and that disease management programs were being developed.

Two-fer Tuesday

Here are two media clips related to the Sox. First, a video that is appropriate as it is storming really bad outside. Second, my favorite Sox related song ever.* Yes, even more favorite than that Caroline song.

* NOTE: "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" does not count!

what weekend?

The weekend was a blur. Jenn and I spent most of it running from here to there fulfilling commitments. I like weekends with more downtime. But I do like the results of the weekend. We have a location and date for the wedding, we've mapped out our next wedding tasks, and we are making good progress on the guest list. I just wish there had been a little more just sitting around doing nothing.

By contrast, work today has been insane. A quiet, intern-less day turned into e-mails flying back and forth and two "very important" meetings being plopped on my calendar. Class tonight and somewhere between now and Wednesday another paper is due. Thankfully the final paper was canceled in that class... I'm not sure I would have survived!

Okay, enough whining and back to work... ho hum...

And the winner is...

Wedding Site #5! The Essex Conference Center and Retreat!

Odd name for a wedding site, but I think that's about the only negative it comes with. The grounds are beautiful!! It's very quiet and peaceful. There is a nice pond and some really great artwork throughout. The wedding rental is for practically all of Saturday and Sunday, so Jenn and I will have plenty of time to chill with all of our guests. The inclusion of accommodations for at least 39 and camping possibilities nearly sealed the deal, but I think it was the fire pit that put us over the top!

It's a little more expensive than we had hoped, but that's mostly because it's a two day affair. And the guest list will be limited, so we still need to work that out. But I'd say it's pretty much a done deal that Jenn and I will be married here on June 20, 2009!

Pictures from my work PC

Occassionally personal stuff makes it to your work PC in the forms of pictures that people send you or that you download with the intention of copying to a USB drive and taking home. Here are a few that still live at work.
